Author Mark Spragg to Visit Vernal

Author Mark Spragg will be the next speaker in the USU Department of English Speakers Series. The event will be held Thursday, September 18 at 7:00 pm in the Utah Field House of Natural History, located at 460 East Main, Vernal, Utah. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
Mark Spragg grew up working on Wyoming’s oldest dude ranch just east of Yellowstone National Park. Spragg is the author of three books: Where Rivers Change Direction, a memoir which won the Mountains & Plains Booksellers Award, and the novels The Fruit of Stone, and most recently, An Unfinished Life. All were top-ten BookSense selections and have been translated into fifteen languages. Mark and his wife, Virginia, wrote the screenplay for An Unfinished Life, which was released in 2005 by Miramax Films and starred Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman, and Jennifer Lopez.
The USU Department of English Speakers Series was established to promote the value of arts and humanities in American public life. The series features faculty writing and research accomplishments and noted visiting authors and scholars sharing their work. This Speakers Series appearance is made possible with support from the Marie Eccles Caine Foundation, USU Regional Campuses and Distance Education, and the Department of English at Utah State University.
