
Family & Human Development, MFHD
The Master of Family and Human Development (MFHD) prepares professionals to provide cutting-edge services to individuals and families. Students receive advanced training in individual development and family processes, examining their interplay within the larger contexts of social institutions and policies. The MFHD is a practice-oriented, non-thesis degree especially suitable for individuals already working in family or social service sectors, education, and corrections. While this degree does not lead to licensure, it will provide excellent preparation for those wanting to gain greater understanding of children, youth, and families in order to work with them more effectively. Organized as a cohort and delivered via distance technology, this program consists of 33 semester credits, completed over a two-year period.

Courses are delivered via state of the art video conferencing technology. Students meet at a designated time and location.
Admissions
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Score at or above 40th percentile on appropriate admissions test
- Three letters of recommendation
- Completed application form and application fee
- Official transcript of all college credit
Requirements
In addition to meeting the admission requirements for the USU School of Graduate Studies, students must have an undergraduate major or minor in a family or human development field or at least one undergraduate class in each of the following areas: family relations, human development, statistics, and research methods. Students lacking these prerequisites may be accepted on a provisional basis but must complete them in addition to the other program requirements. Students are admitted as part of a cohort every two years (or group of students who complete the program together). Enrollment in the program is only permitted at the beginning of a new cohort. The next cohort will begin fall 2010.
